Team Shuba Consulting from APU has achieved a remarkable 1st Runner Up among 60 private and public universities in Malaysia, in the recently concluded CIMA Global Business Challenge Malaysia. The team comprises of Ali Atiq, Nikita Arabel Pironti, Kasimova Shafia and Veeresh Roy Joggesser, who are all third year BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance students. Special thanks and thumbs up to their mentors, Shubatra Shanmugaretnam and Rohizan Binti Ahmad from the School of Accounting, Finance and Quantitative Studies (SAFIQ) for their dedication and support in guiding this team to this astonishing achievement.

This year’s competition recorded a participation of 60 private and public university teams throughout Malaysia. Only 5 teams were selected to be qualified for the finals, and APU emerged as the 1st Runner Up of the competition among 2 public universities: University Sains Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia and 2 private universities: Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARC). The finalists, including Shuba Consulting, has presented their business reports, which were developed based on a case scenario, to a panel of judges, that comprises of local business leaders. The final presentation took place at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus on May 6, 2014.
About CIMA Global Business Challenge
The CIMA Global Business Challenge (GBC) is an international business competition designed to showcase business leaders of tomorrow. It offers students a real taste of the business world and the opportunity to advance their future career. In the Preliminary Round, participating teams conducted the Test of Professional Competency in Management Accounting case study, which require them to prepare a business report based on the given scenario. Qualified teams then progress to the local final, where they will present their report to the panel of local business leaders. The winning team will represent the country/region at the global final and compete to become the global champion.
