Six medals for APU Taekwondo Club in the TYC Championship 2024!


APU Taekwondo Club won the TYC Taekwondo Championship (WT) 2024, bringing home six medals. With this achievement fueling their fire, the club is now in intense training under Team Manager Master Tony Lee and Coach Mr. William Kek Wai Kuin’s leadership, aiming to win gold at the upcoming SUKIPT 2024.

Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) Taekwondo Club dominated the recent TYC Taekwondo Championship (WT) 2024 held at Dewan Seri Cempaka MPKJ, Kajang, Selangor, bringing home a whopping six medals!

The team, led by Team Manager Master Tony Lee and Coach Mr. William Kek Wai Kuin, consisted of six talented athletes: Chin Pei Yueh, Kendra Moss Ting, Ho Yuan Zhan, Eyu Ji Yuen, Muhammad Irfan Aiman Zuhairi, and Phoon Kenji.

These dedicated individuals, all showcased their skills in the Poomsae event and proved their mettle by securing two gold medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals.

Muhammad Irfan Aiman Zuhairi reigned supreme and won the gold medal in the Male Individual (Above 16 Elite) category, while Eyu Ji Yuen secured a bronze medal in the same category.

The Female Individual (Above 16 Elite) category saw a double win for APU, with Chin Pei Yueh clinching the gold medal and Kendra Moss Ting taking home the silver medal.

But the winning did not stop there. The trio of Muhammad Irfan Aiman Zuhairi, Eyu Ji Yuen, and Phoon Kenji bagged a silver medal in the Mixed Team (Above 16 Elite) category, while Chin Pei Yueh, Kendra Moss Ting, and Phoon Kenji added another bronze medal to the team’s impressive tally.

Master Tony expressed his gratitude to the APU management for their invaluable support.

“This financial backing,” he said, “provided our athletes with crucial competition experience that will be instrumental in their preparation for upcoming tournaments, including the prestigious Sukan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi (SUKIPT) 2024.”

“The win at TYC has ignited a fire in all of us!,” declared Chin Pei Yueh, President of APU Taekwondo Club.

“We are revving up our training to bring home gold at SUKIPT 2024! Get ready, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), here we come!”

The 6th edition of SUKIPT will take place from 6 to 14 September 2024 at UUM, Sintok, Kedah.
