APU’s School of Psychology (SoP) hosted its inaugural Psychology Career Fair 2026 at its state-of-the-art Kuala Lumpur campus, connecting students from APU and neighbouring public universities with 12 diverse organisations to explore wide-ranging career pathways, receive on-the-spot CV checks, and bridge academic learning with real-world industry opportunities.
Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation’s (APU) School of Psychology (SoP) hosted its inaugural Psychology Career Fair 2026 on 21 October 2026 at the Atrium of its state-of-the-art campus in Kuala Lumpur.
Marking the university’s first dedicated career event for psychology undergraduates, the fair aimed to unveil the vast array of career avenues accessible to graduates and demonstrate how psychological principles apply across various industries.
The event was spearheaded by Ms Vinorra Shaker, Head of SoP, alongside SoP Lecturers Ms Subashini Ganesan and Ms Amirah Husna Mohamad Hata Abdullah, in close collaboration with the APU Career Centre.
Reflecting on the vision behind organizing the event, Ms Vinorra Shaker explained the importance of providing a broader lens for aspiring practitioners.
“We wanted to host this event to show our students, as well as guests from neighbouring universities that a background in psychology opens doors far beyond the traditional clinical path.
“By bringing diverse organisations onto our campus, we created a collaborative space where students from all backgrounds could engage directly with industry leaders, see where their skills fit in the modern workforce, and begin actively shaping their professional journeys well before graduation,” she said.
Twelve prominent organisations across diverse sectors participated in the event, including SOLS Group, CT Training and Development, Joyous Kiddy HQ Sdn. Bhd., Agensi Pekerjaan Times Management Consultancy Sdn. Bhd., GRADUAN Sdn. Bhd., PT Foundation, The Pillars Psychological Services, doTERRA, ROVISYS Asia Sdn. Bhd., ReSkills EdTech, Than Hsiang Mitra Welfare Center – KL, and ADA Data AI Commerce Solutions Sdn. Bhd.
By engaging directly with company representatives, students gained crucial insights into diverse industries, discovering firsthand that a psychology degree extends far beyond traditional boundaries.
The participating employers introduced students to seven core sectors where psychology graduates can forge impactful careers, encompassing mental health and psychological services, special needs and inclusive education, non-governmental organisations and community development, human resources and talent development, business consulting and corporate services, health and wellness, as well as training, learning, and educational technology.
Beyond broad career exploration, the fair delivered immediate practical value, with GRADUAN offering on-the-spot CV reviews to help students refine their applications for the job market.
The event also attracted students from public institutions, including Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), transforming the campus into a vibrant networking hub for aspiring psychologists across the region.
The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as students discovered how seamlessly their academic training translated into real-world roles.
Ameera Naushad highlighted the welcoming environment, sharing that the company representatives were friendly and approachable, offering useful insights into career opportunities.
“I particularly appreciated learning about opportunities in the special needs education field, as the available roles were clearly explained and provided valuable insights into the field,” she said.
For Nusrat Ishmum, the event proved to be a game-changer for securing future roles.
“The career fair was an incredible opportunity for psychology students seeking internship opportunities,” Nusrat added, “The booths were interactive and engaging, with company representatives providing detailed insights into their organisations and the potential job scopes available.”
This sense of discovery resonated right across the venue as Jovis Yep Junhao found the dynamic setting invaluable for mapping out a personal trajectory.
“The career fair was fun, engaging, and informative. The organisations explained their work clearly and answered my questions, helping me discover more career options and understand how I could continue developing my future in psychology,” he said.
Meanwhile, Joe Wong Jia Zu took inspiration from the sheer breadth of community-focused work on display.
“The career fair helped me explore internship and employment options while learning what organisations look for in candidates,” Joe concluded, “I especially appreciated the variety of opportunities to support different groups, including children, older adults, and people with disabilities.”
The initiative strongly reinforced several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), advancing Quality Education (SDG 4) by bridging classroom theory with practical career planning, Decent Work & Economic Growth (SDG 8) by enhancing graduate employability through career guidance and resume reviews, and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) through the collaboration between academia and industry leaders.
The SoP extended its gratitude to all participating organisations, the APU Career Centre, and the attending students for making the event a resounding success.
Ultimately, the fair broadened perspectives and served as a powerful reminder that career development is an ongoing journey of discovery that begins long before graduation day.
