Stepping into the forefront of Malaysia’s digital future, a group of students from Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) took part in an insightful industrial visit to CelcomDigi AiX Experience Centre, a state-of-the-art hub dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and digital innovation.

Led by Ms Kavitha Arunasalam (Senior Lecturer, School of Accounting and Finance at APU), the visit was designed to bridge academic knowledge with real-world industry practices, allowing students to gain first-hand exposure to how emerging technologies are transforming business operations, finance, and cybersecurity landscapes. 

Upon arrival, students were warmly welcomed by representatives from CelcomDigi AiX, who introduced the centre’s core vision of accelerating Malaysia’s digital transformation through innovation, experimentation, and AI-driven solutions.

Then, students explored a series of interactive demonstrations highlighting practical applications of AI, including AI-powered customer insights, smart city management systems, and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, as well as predictive analytics and automation tools currently deployed in the industry.

In addition, students engaged with immersive technologies such as AR/VR-based simulations, smart devices, robotics, and AI-enabled customer experience platforms. 

The visit delivered a range of meaningful learning outcomes, including:

1. A strengthened practical understanding of AI applications across various sectors, including fraud prevention, manufacturing, smart city systems, healthcare, accounting technologies, and business operations.
2. Direct exposure to industry-standard digital tools, platforms, and solutions, alongside greater awareness of Malaysia’s digital transformation and the role of telco-tech firms such as CelcomDigi.
3. Enhanced insight into future career pathways in AI, data science, cybersecurity, and digital accounting, motivating students to continuously develop essential skills such as analytics, critical thinking, problem-solving, and technology adoption.
    

Overall, the industrial visit to CelcomDigi AiX Experience Centre served as a valuable platform for aligning academic learning with industry realities, reinforcing APU’s commitment to nurturing future proof professionals equipped with relevant technical expertise and practical industry insight.
